You’ve Got That Right
I have a long, long, long post about the principal shuffle, ATF/APS contract, and teacher evaluations coming. But the research is taking longer than I expected so please bear with me. Reading through all of the mumbo-jumbo is sometimes intense.
However, I just had a funny thought occur while reading the NMPED (New Mexico Public Education Department) website.
I was fiddlin’ around on the NMPED Priority Schools webpage (for EPSS info) which has documents from presentations, workshops, and trainings. I ran across the Standards for Effective Schools Definitions.
Item number 7 made me laugh. (Although, when you think about it, it’s really not funny. I’d been reading through contract agreements, curriculum assessments, and all kinds of dry stuff and needed a “potty” break, I guess.)
7. Coordinated and Aligned Curriculum and Assessments (CACA) – CACA is defined as curricula that are aligned with state standards, assessments, and policies. Alignment is the match between what is taught, how it is taught, and how it is tested. Curriculum should be centralized and coordinated through a district-wide adoption.
My first thought was, ‘Who makes up this crap?’” and my second thought was, ‘Well, this is all starting to make sense, isn’t it?’ and ‘I wonder if this is a joke amongst all teachers.’
My final thought was… ‘I wonder what that looks like in Spanish?’ As soon as I post this I’m gonna use the Spanish translator on this blog just to see what happens. And then I’m going to stop reading for a while!
Sometimes, you’ve just gotta laugh or the CACA will just pile up on ya!

if it were only a bit shorter; you could send it to Jay Leno.
